Heroes4Hire Handymen is a veterans-only handyman service, committed to getting veterans back into work with all the training and support they need to start their new employment.
Since we began working with the business in April 2017, we’ve grown an engaged, multi-platform social media following from scratch. By working closely with the founder, Nigel, we are helping to deliver on the organisation’s growth targets…
Nigel Blanchard, former RAF radio operator and founder of Heroes4Hire-Handymen, came across BizWizUK through networking in Manchester. Having only recently established the business, he was struggling to know where to begin when building the organisation’s online presence.
After an initial chat with our team, Nigel felt confident that we ‘got’ what he was doing and what he wanted to achieve. As such, he commissioned BizWizUK to set up and manage social media accounts for Heroes4Hire-Handymen in April 2017, working within a set budget.
When we started, Heroes4Hire-Handymen had an inactive Twitter account and no other social media presence to speak of. After setting up a Facebook and LinkedIn page, we began posting daily across the platforms to kickstart organic growth of these channels.
This has involved sharing relevant news, publicity, videos, pictures and reviews. We also personally respond to all social media messages, directing veterans to Nigel for applications to join the team.
The strategy focused initially on brand awareness; as the social media presence has strengthened, we are now driving sponsorship opportunities both on the Heroes4Hire-Handymen accounts and through LinkedIn on behalf of Nigel himself.
In less than six months we’ve seen some amazing results. Since its establishment in April, the Facebook page now has over 1750 likes, with higher than average engagement levels for the platform – more than 50% of followers engage with posts.
As many posts on this platform have an organic reach of around 3,000 people, we are now creating a strong basis for sponsorship opportunities. We are currently working with Nigel to develop these, as part of our ongoing partnership with the business.
