Write a Perfect LinkedIn Message

Do your LinkedIn messages get ignored and not sure why?  A well written LinkedIn message could make all the difference to that new job or business opportunity.  Our LinkedIn training can support you in this area, please feel free to get in touch.  Make sure that your message isn’t ignored, read our top tips:

Do your research

It is important that you research their profile before you make contact so you can find something to help start the conversation. For example, have they recently published an article or shared an update that you can refer to and share your thoughts? Perhaps you have a mutual connection that you can mention, stating how you know them?

What’s your intention?

How can you be of help to the person that you’re messaging on LinkedIn and what have they got to gain by engaging with you? Most people are happy to engage but remember that they are less likely to respond if they don’t fully understand your intentions, so be sure to be transparent.

Don’t dilly dally

Business people are very busy so don’t be vague, get to the point to save time for everyone involved.  At least, you’ll know if they’re interested or not.

Be polite

As David Beckham once said “It’s so important to have manners and treat people from all walks of life the way they should be treated.”  Manners cost nothing, always approach people in a friendly and helpful way or risk losing that potential connection, business or advice.
