Grow Your Business Through Social Media

Did you know that internet users have an average of 5.54 social media accounts, according to Global Web Index.  That means as a business you have to be constantly looking at ways to market your business through social media and this week we’re examining Instagram.  Instagram has over 400 million users and if you are hoping to sell your brand to teens on Instagram, you’re in luck. Among teenagers ages 13 to 17 years-old,  23 percent of girls and 17 percent of boys use Instagram.  Check out the full demographics report here.  Here’s some reasons why you might want to switch to an Instagram business account:

  1. Easier for followers to contact. Rather than followers having to click on your website to contact you, they can click the new ‘Contact’ button on your profile. The contact button then asks whether they want to e-mail you, call you or find your location on a map
  2. Better Instagram analytics. Helps measure impressions, reach and follower information within the past week.
  3. Easier to create Instagram ads. You have to link your Instagram account to your Facebook page to create a business account, but this also gives you the ability to create Instagram ads through Facebook.

Please let us know if you think we can help you in 2017.  We offer a marketing outsourcing service which allows you to get on running your business and we’ll do the rest, with monthly support packages to suit your budget.  Get in touch via our contact page or call me on 0161 826 7181.

Archive your LinkedIn Data

LinkedIn are in the process of making changes to the way we use their platform, to quote “These new products and experiences help us with our mission of connecting the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful in order to lift and transform the global economy”.

Until we know more about these changes, we would suggest you request an archive of your data.  Once requested, this data will include your messages, connections, and imported contacts and within 24 hours, LinkedIn will send you another email with a link where you can download a second archive, including activity, publishing activity, account history and much more.

Request a download in 3 easy steps:

  1. Move your cursor over your profile photo at the top right of your homepage and select Privacy & Settings
  2. Select the Account tab at the top of the page. Under Basics, click Change (You may be prompted to sign in)
  3. This will take you to the Request your data archive page.

To find out more information please visit the LinkedIn help centre here.  If you or your colleagues should require help, support or training on how to use LinkedIn more effectively, please contact me via LinkedIn or via our contact form and I’ll be happy to help you.

Give your non-profit a boost

We’ve been helping to give marketing a boost to support Stop UK Homeless campaign, if you can help support this great cause please do so.  January is our nonprofit month where we’re offering tips and ideas on helping you to tell your story, engage with your fans and get the results you desire.  Here’s some ideas for you to adopt over the months ahead.

Email marketing isn’t dead

…far from it! According to Nonprofit Technology Network open rates, click through, response rates and unsubscribe rates were down and yet email revenue grew by 25% compared to 19% of online revenue growth online. What does this tell you? Email marketing for nonprofits still works. Try an A/B email split test which will help you to pinpoint which version of your campaigns is the most effective.

Leveraging social media is big business with nonprofits

Nonprofits see the benefits on social media and if you’re not using social media then you’re missing out on this fast growing area. You’ll have a good story to tell so use video which is one of the fastest growing form of media. Check out YouTube Charities Programme. Creating a Facebook page is a must, with more than 100 million people using Facebook via their phone every month and this is rising. There are so many things you can do, check out these tips by Social Media Examiner.

You have to put the time and effort in

As with everything in life, you get out what you put in and social media for your nonprofit s definitely no different.  Yes, you are very busy and probably working on an extremely limited budget but you have to devote time into the planning and execution process. Have you thought about hiring a student or trainee with whom you can trust your social media presence? There are lots of people looking for work experience either paid or gratis.

If you should require help, support or training on how to give your good cause a marketing boost, please contact Ann Davies via LinkedIn or via our contact form.  Ann will be happy to help you.
